SkySong to Host Workshop on Technology Standards in Schools with ISTE
Interactive online and in-person session will focus on improving technology in Arizona’s schools
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (February 18, 2009) — An international education organization and its Arizona affiliate are hosting an interactive workshop for educators this Friday at one of the state's newest tech centers.
Living in a digital age means that learning models are changing just as fast as the technology supporting them. Educators will explore the use of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for improving the integration of technology in Arizona schools. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) led the development of NETS. ISTE’s local affiliate, the Arizona Technology in Education Alliance (AzTEA) is hosting an interactive workshop that will combine online presentations with face-to-face sessions at local sites throughout the state to discuss how these standards can shape and change the future of learning.
Date and time: Friday, February 20, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Local destination: Arizona State University’s Skysong Innovation Center: 1475 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale
There are multiple ways educators will participate in this event: attending a physical session in Casa Grande, Phoenix or Flagstaff; hosting their own session with broadband Internet access; or participating on their own computer.
This workshop is designed to meet the needs of School District Curriculum Coaches, Administrators, and Instructional Technology Support Personnel. A combination of virtual and face-to-face sessions will examine integrating the National Educational Technology Standards into curriculum, reflecting on the new standards, and making an action plan of how to implement these innovative technology standards.
About NETS: ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) have served as a roadmap since 1998 for improved teaching and learning by educators. ISTE standards for students, teachers, and administrators help to measure proficiency and set aspirational goals for the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed in today’s Digital Age. ISTE’s proven leadership in developing these benchmarks and providing guidance in implementing them has resulted in broad adoption of the ISTE standards in the U.S. and in several countries.
